Impact of Religion on Society Research Paper: Downloadable PDF

In 2014, a number of religious and academic institutions came together to discuss conducting a study of the economic impact of religion. A steering committee for the study, known as SEIROS (the Study of Economic Impact of Religion on Society), was formed. This committee commissioned the Christian Research Association to conduct a national survey of the impact of religion as it influenced the behaviour and actions of Australian individuals. The survey, known as the Contributing to Australian Society survey, was conducted in February and March 2016 via an email invitation sent out by a company which conducts national surveys to people on a database of close to one million Australian adults who had agreed to receive surveys. A sample of 7,754 respondents was obtained, representing people of all age groups 18 years and older from all states and territories in Australia. For a more accurate representation, the data was weighted by gender, age and state in which people lived to resemble the Australian population at the 2011 Census. It was noted that there were some small biases remaining in the sample with higher proportions being Australian born and having diplomas or degrees, a result of doing surveys in a written form through the Internet…
