    What is Happening to Religion in Australia? Reflections from the Book Launch

    In early April 2025, more than 40 people gathered at Pilgrim Theological College in Melbourne to launch the most recent publication of Philip Hughes: What is Happening to Religion in Australia? Understanding the Trends.

    The guests heard from two experts on religion in Australia, Dr Muriel Porter OAM and Professor Andrew Singleton. Emeritus Professor Rev Philip Hughes provided a general response. Pointers includes the edited text of the three main presentations at the book launch.

    Inclusivity in Ministry, Journal of Contemporary Ministry, Ed. 10

    The 10th edition of the Journal of Contemporary Ministry has just been released, edited by Tim Mullen. It contains five peer reviewed articles as well as a pastoral reflection from Neville Carr and book reviews.

    The Christian Faith in Europe and the USA

    A new book was released in 2024, Christianity in Western and Northern Europe, edited by Kenneth Ross, Annemarie Mayer and Todd Johnson. Some of its content in relation to Western Europe has been summarised by Peter Brierley, the former director of the Christian Research Association in the UK. The Pew Research Center has provided extra information about research in the USA.

    Online Services

    Many churches began streaming services or broadcasting them through YouTube so that people could watch them at a more convenient time in 2020 when COVID restricted movement. This occurred in many countries around the world. Some research has been done in the Church of England.

    Remembering Nicaea: A Contested History, ANZATS Conference, Melbourne, Australia, 13 July 2025

    The CRA are partnering with The Australian and New Zealand Association of Theological Studies (ANZATS), and the Australasian Centre for Wesleyan Research (ACWR) to host in Melbourne, Australia, a conference marking the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea, 325 CE. Our involvement as CRA is outlined.
